Multiple OSs on my PC

edited December 2007 in Science & Tech
I've got Windows XP and I've just bought Vista. However, I've been told that XP is better for gaming and is generally quicker for work so I've decided to have both on at the same time so I can switch between them (like Parallel Desktops for Macs). Is there any good software I can buy to do this?

Well there is vmware, which is free but you won't have a very well functioning Windows install inside a vmware environment. You could also do a dual but install. But there is little point in dual booting between XP and Vista.

You can also get parallels for Windows. However you may as well just use VMWare since it's free and on a windows machine performs better.

But truthfully, there is little point in doing what your asking. Just stick with XP it's faster. However if you want DX10 then go with Vista.

My PC runs an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 2.2GHz and has 1536mb of RAM. Would it be able to run both Vista and XP at the same time?

Those specs are barely Vista-capable. You'll be doing well to get Vista running on that comfortably by itself.

It can run them both at the same time. However neither will be really usable. Also as I said there is no - no point in running windows XP or Vista in side a virtual environment except for testing purposes. You can't do gaming inside of it, which is what I'm assuming you are attempting. ZERO ZIP NADDA WON'T WORK!
