my prof sent me an email (yahoo) & w/in the body of it..theres a bunch of these 2 symbols: … and – ..can anyone tell me what those 2 symbols mean or are?i think its just the html or coding messed up

Html code = In Welsh font this would indicate single speech marks - in english you would write & # 8 2 1 6 ; before statement & # 8 2 1 7 ; after statement

Hi J - I googled those …. and found quite a lot of them, mostly in place of speech marks either " or ' .

As the math you are doing is way beyond me - would you use speech marks as a means to indicate that you need to find the next number?

If not ....... I'd ask your tutor for a paper version or re-send email

I means the character sets you and your prof are using are incompatible so it turns to garbage on your end. Notice there's also a (TM) symbol in the third line. What you're seeing is your browser trying to represent characters it doesn't understand (probably various punctuation marks).

I recommend asking your prof to send it in a text file. Maybe also try another browser or another computer - the problem is definitely platform-dependent.
