Image to Text program

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if there is a program that can look at an image which has text, and convert it to actual text. So if there is an image that says "HELLO", it will be able to recognize the H-E-L-L-O and then convert it to text.

can anyone help me out?

This sounds like OCR (Optical Character Recognition) that is used when scanning text documents into a computer and converting it to a text file. Not sure if this can be used for getting text from a picture file but it seems like it should be useful. You might try googling it.

ok i did some more research, and i will post the solution if anyone else wants to know...

You will need:

-Microsoft Office Document Imaging
(if you have office 2k7: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/05/13/how-to-open-mdi-microsoft-document-imaging-format-with-office-2007/
)

-An image converter to convert to TIFF format:
A nice tool that i found:
http://www.thejackol.com/projects/iconvert/ImageConverter.exe

1 - convert image to TIFF using the converting tool.
2 - open the image with Microsoft doc imaging
3 - Select the image-text you want to convert to text
4 - right click and click copy
5 - it will start converting, and after about 5 seconds it will be copied to your clipboard

now u will be able to paste it in notepad!
