Logitech Z-680's and Z-5300's.
The sub on my Z-560's is deffinetly done for, the sattellites aren't sounding like they used to anymore either. I bought the set from Best Buy and was planning on getting the Z-680's to replace them. Unfortunately BB decided to stop carrying them and I can't find them in IL, WIS, or AZ. I would love to get the Klipsch Ultra's but can't justify spending the cash. The Z-5300's seem to make the most sense. Anyone have any experience with them? If so, what are your thoughts? I'll listen to them another time before I make my decision, but if they aren't great I might just get the Z-680's from Newegg. Any input would be appreciated.

Mesmerization.
Hahah thanks. I'm rather new here, didn't know if that was a cliche that wasn't allowed here. Glad to know it's appreciated .
Second; nothing beats the z680s. That is, unless you want to spend hundreds more.
From a member at another forum I frequent. (I should put a watermark or something on it )
Anyone know if their local BB has any Z-680's in stock. I have a warranty from my Z-560s and would just switch them out more or less. They're next to impossible to find.
Don't sweat having to ship the set back if they handle customer returns like they do with RMA through a store, all they have a store send in is the power cable.
and I could hook my digital out from my DVD player into it...mmmm Dolby Digital
BTW Nightshade said in another thread that he was bying them. I wonder if he's gotten them yet. If so hope he comments on them.
Am i the only one who will be reading this thread many times if only to see daks avatar. :wow: It's about time i get one for myself.
Oh, and the Pure Digital (VideoLogic) DigiTheatre DTS system still seems to own everything (though you can only get 2.1 rather than 5.1 unless you have nForce audio).

But, having a quick look -
Megaworks 550 - $180

right now I have the Cambridge SoundWorks FPS2000 Digital set, they sound awesome, but, as I mentioned before, after 4 years of hard usage, the controller has broken and the rear channels are disabled because of that
Why thank you .
Let me explain my situation a little more. I'm a big fan of BB warranties, I get them with all my big price purchases. Basically my plan was to keep the 560's for a year or so and then upgrade to whatever is available at that time. This plan was working out well except for the fact that the nearest BB is an hour away from my school and my car was at home. So, when I got home for Thanksgiving break to try to pick up a set of 680's I was stumped. BB stopped carrying the 680's and dropped their price from $399 to $199. In a matter of days all of them seemed to dissapear. They're no longer online and as I mentioned I couldn't find a set in 3 different states around certain areas.
When I bring back my 560's from school for Christmas break I'll probably just wind up taking them to BB and try to convince them that the Klipsch Ultra's are the closest thing to the specs of the 560's that they carry. I doubt this will work, but it's worth a shot. At that point I'll just get a store credit for the full purchase price of the 560's and I'll use that for Christmas presents.
I'm a real big fan of the 680's, have been for quite sometime. The reason I don't want to buy from Newegg for instance is the fact that I can't just bring them back and get my money back in a year or so. As dishonest as it may sound, a college kid has to do what he has to do .
I also tryed pricematching the 680's to Circuit City and the lovely young lady would have done it had it not been for the manager . I'll probably try that one more time as well.
And that's my life story, thanks for the input. When are the Gigaworks coming out?

Though they are going to be releasing a 5.1 version of it too. It will have tweeters too allowing it to have alot better frequency response, unlike the single driver systems.
