Why has my IP address changed?

I was doing a port scan on GRC and it said it was scanning my IP 82.xxx.xxx (can't remember). My IP address has always been 81.xxx.xxx. I went on AuditMyPC and it says I was located in Manchester, England, using the IP address at the top. I'm located about half an hour from there.

Why has it all suddenly changed? Thanks for any help.

Typically, you won't have a static IP at home. Lots of people share the same IP, and IPs can change for any number of reasons. While you may end up with the same IP for long stretches of time, that doesn't make it permanent. :) Static IPs typically cost extra money and are only useful if you are hosting a website.

    Thanks for that, Keebler.
