Help! I'm so infected....

Hi,

I was switching virus and firewall software the other day and next thing I know my DSL connection is totally hijacked. Adaware crashes. Numerous spyware software have caught a number of things but not everything. Help, please. IE connections are timing out the connection is so busy sending spyware. Enclosed is my hijackthis log. The problem is you have several security programs running simultaneously. This causes conflicts and freezes the computer. If you are going to use AVG Anti-Spyware and ZoneAlarm, you must remove Norton Internet Security. To do that, please download Norton Removal Tool and run it.


Step 1

Please download CCleaner.


Step 2

Run HijackTHis and click Do system scan only.

When it finishes, checkmark this entry

Close web browser, and all other open programs/windows.

Click Fix Checked.


Step 3

Install CCleaner.

If you don't want the Yahoo toolbar, be sure to uncheck that option when installing the software or update.

• Launch CCleaner and under Options > Advanced > uncheck "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours".
• A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
• To protect logon cookies that you wish to retain, under Options > Cookies. Select and using the arrow move those cookies to the "Cookies to keep" column.
• Then select the items you wish to clean up.
  • In the Windows Tab:
    • Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section.
    • Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section.
    • Clean all entries in the "System" section.
    • Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section.
    • Clean any others that you choose.
  • In the Applications Tab:
  • Clean all in the Firefox/Mozilla section if you use it.
  • Clean all in the Opera section if you use it.
  • Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section.
  • Please UNcheck "Utilities" (i.e., Ad-Aware, ewido and other security program logs.)

• Click the "Run Cleaner" button and it will scan and clean your system.
• Click exit.
• Shutdown/restart the computer.

Reboot your computer and after that post a fresh HijackThis log.

Thanks so much for your help. The CCleaner works wonders.

OK...Here it is. I normally don't have so many security programs running but when it got infected I started running different programs to get rid of it. As you can see I've added a few and deleted others. It seems to be running better. I've tried deleting the Symantec entries in Hijack this but they won't go away even though it says file missing. Do you see anything else funny going on?

One antivirus, firewall, and anti-spyware/adware/trojans program is enough. However, if you wanna use multiple of them, I recommend to disable their real-time monitoring. This makes your computer more stable.

Righ now you have,

Antivirus: Avast4
Firewall: ZoneAlarm

Then you have several anti-spyware/adware/trojans programs

Spyware Doctor, Ad-Aware 2007, SpyCatcher, SUPERAntiSpyware

Consider to turn off all but one.

Here it is. I uninstalled all the spyware software except for Spyware doctor. Adaware was uninstalled but is still in the log. It's running much better now though............
