8800GTS driver weird !!!!

HI hope someone knows what my pc is still showing resolution that i know my monitor doesnt support .

i recenntly reinstalled xp and downloaded the latest drivers however due to some issues with black screen etc i then decided it would be better to reinstall XP and start again rather than fart ass about trying different drivers .

i have the 169.09 beta drivers installed but have nocied that it doesnt matter which driver i install im still able to choose resolution way above what my monitor supports .

    If you don't have a driver installed specifically for your monitor, you're able to select (But not use) any resolution the video card supports.
