Need Help Please. Computer acting Up. Might be Zlob.

Hi and thank you for any assistance you can provide.
I used ATF Cleaner, then used Spy-Bot S&D, then XoftSpy Anti-Spyware, SpywareBlaster, then Kaspersky Internet Security Anti-Spyware. Did the steps before posting this. Except I don't have Ad-Aware.

The zlob virus keeps being detected on my virus protection program. Kaspersky deletes it but then later it catches it again but with a slightly different name. and randomly my browser will go to a page that downloads a virus. I forgot what its called. Also I keep getting this error message:
"dwwin.exe - Application error

The instruction at "0x7c883f9c" referenced memory at " 0x7c883f9c". the memory could not be 'written".

Click on OK to terminate program"

and then after that most of the programs will close immediately after I open them. and my Kaspersky Internet Security virus protection keeps saying "Update failed: Incorrect signature" and the Kaspersky website won't load on my computer.

I didn't do the Kaspersky Online Scan because it wouldn't load at all on my computer. It kept saying internet explorer cannot display the webpage. But IE does go to any other website.

Here is the Panda ActiveScan log:

Hello, Muzic713. I'll check your log and answer ASAP. Please wait.

Please make sure you read the instructions carefully and follow them exactly. That way you speed up the cleaning process and ensure that everything is going right. If you find anything strange or you have questions, please let me know. I'm here to help you. Please don't make any changes to your system during the cleaning, unless specifically asked. Thank you.

Print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad.

Step 1

Download to your desktop

SmitfraudFix
Deckard's System Scanner (DSS)

Step 2

Run SmitfraudFix
• Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe.
• Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press Enter.
• A text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
• Copy & paste the content of that report into your next reply.
If the tool fails to launch from the Desktop, please move SmitfraudFix directly to the root of the system drive (usually C:), and launch from there.

NOTE: Process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes.

Step 3

Run Deckard's System Scanner (DSS)

NOTE: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
1. Close all open applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open
• main.txt <- this one will be maximized
• extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C)and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post in your reply.

Step 4

Please post the SmitfraudFix and both DSS logs, along with a fresh HijackThis log.

Please do the following...

Move Dss.exe to your desktop, if it isn't currently located there.

Go to Start > Run, and copy & paste the following

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /config

Click OK.

This will open up DSS configuration

Check this

.txt - txtfile - shell\open\command

Click Fix.

After that, scan again with DSS.
Save the log files to your desktop and post them to me.

Ok dss.exe is on my desktop, I clicked Start then Run and copy pasted what you said clicked Ok then the DSS Configuration came up. This is what it looks like on my computer. I didn't check anything, this is how it came up exactly.

6ly7frn.jpg

As you can see it doesn't have any ".txt - txtfile - shell\open\command" to check on there. Or a "Fix" option to click.

So I stopped there because I don't know what to do. What should I do now? I appreciate your patience and help that you are providing.

Muzic713, sorry for misinformation.

Move Dss.exe to your desktop, if it isn't currently located there.

Go to Start > Run, and copy & paste the following

"%userprofile%\desktop\dss.exe" /DAFT

Click OK.

Check this

.txt - txtfile - shell\open\command

Click Fix.

After that, scan again with DSS.
Save the log files to your desktop and post them to me.

I hope it works now. :)

Ok I followed your instructions and it fixed it. Then it said DAFT: all associations okay.

Then I scanned w/ DSS.exe. After it finished it only opened a new main.txt but not a new extra.txt.

Here is the new main.txt:

Thanks. And look, it worked! :D

I would like to know if you (or someone else) have fixed your log in advance. There have been marks of Zlob infection in there, and they are removed. Are the files removed also?

Please do the followings...
• Click Start.
• Open My Computer.
• Select the Tools menu and click "Folder Options".
• Select the View Tab.
• Under the Hidden files and folders heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
• Uncheck the "Hide protected operating system files (recommended)" option.
• Click Yes to confirm.
• Click OK.
Can you find these files,

C:\WINDOWS\system32\fftktmk.dll
C:\Program Files\Video Add-on\isfmntr.exe

Please inform me also how your computer is running.

I'm waiting your reply.
• edited December 2007
Ok I looked for those 2 files and didn't find anything. I think I might have deleted "C:\WINDOWS\system32\fftktmk.dll" myself before but i'm not sure about "C:\Program Files\Video Add-on\isfmntr.exe." There was no "Video Add-On" folder in the Program Files folder. So I couldn't find the "isfmntr.exe" file. Then I used the search for both of those files and nothing was found. I might have deleted those before.

My computer's current condition is:
My main problem: I turn on my computer. Then after 20 or so mins. If I try to open any program I get the following message below and then the program closes. This one says "ybrowser.exe" on top because its from my yahoo browser but it will show the .exe of the program I'm trying to open. but the content in the middle is always the same.
879w8k3.jpg

I used to get a drwatson error too along with this error but my brother turned its error reporing off.

Then also when I try to watch a video online, my kaspersky catches a trojan trying to be downloaded but it disinfects it. That didn't use to happen.

and randomly when I use the new tab feature on Internet Explorer it will go to a website saying that my computer is unprotected and that I should download some program. I didnt though, I just closed it.

OK, thanks.

Step 1

Backup your Windows registry.

• Click Start, then Run, and type regedit
• Click OK. The Registry Editor opens.
• Choose Registry and Export.
• Type the name of the backup file in the File name box.
• In the "Export range" section, select All to back up the entire registry.
• Select the Save to save the backup as a .reg file in the specified location.
Step 2

Copy the text inside the code box to Notepad, and save in to your desktop as Fix.reg (make sure you save as type "all files")
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\active setup\installed components\{2E2D568E-35B6-E4C6-B882-5DB2534001ED}]

Doubleclick Fix.reg, and answer yes when prompted to add its contents to the Registry.

Step 3

Reboot into Safe Mode
• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter
• Choose your usual account.

Step 4

Find and delete this folder

C:\WINDOWS\system32\win32GI

Step 5

Reboot your computer back to normal mode.

How is your computer running now?
• edited December 2007
Hello, before I deleted the system32\win32GI the application errors had stopped popping up. Maybe it was from deleting that other file you had asked me to do before or maybe from my Kaspersky finally updating correctly again. Either way it seems that my computer is working fine now.

But I still followed your instructions and deleted the folder "C:\WINDOWS\system32\win32GI"

Should I have done that? What should I do now with the "fix.reg" and the registry back up you had me made, just delete them?

At random times my browser will still go to this site w/out my consent,
I advised not to go to it:
"http://performanceoptimizer.com/.landing/index.php?4656530f5b065e595656034466474a6f540b6f500646560a43480b5a5b56025e1058425d04521453485e5f061f420401014353585f07"

This time I copied the address for reference here. It also says something about my computer not being protected with a yes or no button if I want to install some crap virus.

Why does that happen? Does that mean something of the virus is still in my computer activivating that or is there no way of stopping that?

Other than that my computer is fine.

Very nice. :)

So did you run the fix.reg ?

I believe it's safe to delete the registry back up, but generally I recommend to keep it a couple of days. Just in case.

Can you go to the Kaspersky website? And run online scanner?
• edited December 2007
Yea i ran fix.reg and it did whatever it was supposed to do I guess. I did all the 5 steps you told me to do.

Damn I went and tried to run the Kaspersky Online Virus Scan and right when it was gonna finish updating the Anti-Virus Database to 100% I get this error message:
6xlsrx0.jpg

I am online and I tried running it again various times and it always says that now.

Happy Christmas. :)

Do you have admin rights to the computer you are using?

Please check your IE 7 security and privacy settings
• Open Internet Explorer 7.
• Go to Tools and Internet Options.
• Open Security -tab and select Internet zone.
• Set Security Level: Medium-High.
• Open Privacy -tab.
• Set Settings: Medium.
Are you now able to run Kaspersky Online Virus Scan?
• edited December 2007
I went to the privacy settings and they were already set to those settings you wanted me to change to. and I think I have admin rights since this is my home computer.

I tried to run it again a couple of times and the same error thing happens everytime.

Happy Holidays.
