MySQL and Apache

Ok I just redid my OS, XP Pro

I had MySql and Apache set up but running on a seperate partitioin. I did not do anything with that partition that it is on.

But because the wipe away of the OS removed the MySQL and apache info from the C drive I now have to reinstall it.

I was wondering if there was a way that I could do it with out reinstalling and reconfigureing Apache and MySQL which I assume would lead to me haveing to reinstall my BB and web site that i do for local testing.

I would like to save so time and heartache if possible...

Thanks

The only way that you would be able to save the website and BB that you had if it was ran through the mySQL database would be if you had a backup of it. I don't see why you would lose your information after redoing your OS if you had it on a different partition. What BB were you running? Version of MySQL and Apache? What OS were you running before you redid your OS?

I am/was using the latest version of MySQL
I think that the Apache version is 2. something
    The php version is 4
The BB is VBulletion (had just installed version 3 beta)

The OS was and still is XP Pro

    Ok here was the config

I set up a seperate drive and partition to serve as my server drive.

I insatlled and configued the MySQL, Apache, and PHP as required to run VB through the windows install but had it install on the seperate drive... All of the files and templates are still on the drive that they were installed on.

Now I have a new install of my OS, again XP Pro, which has a new regestry. So of course the services don't start and stuff...

So I was hopeing that there was a simple way that I could use to set up the necessary services and get things going again with out the complete reinstall of the necessary items to make VB run again...

Ok, I figured out how to start them manualy but I can someone tell me how to set them up to run as a service so that everytime I boot they start up automaticly?

Also, I would like to update my Apache server to the latest version is that something that can be done with out removing or losing the config on the current version?

    gtghm,

Go into the services configuration and change the apps service to start automatically instead of manually.

When i format i copy all the important stuff reinstall then replace the files with my old one, seems to work fine even for the sql databases, unless ive read this wrong you still have your old dirs, so just copy them all reinstall the programs, and cropy the old files back over replacing everything.

May need to stop the services and stuff if you want every file to copy instead of picking out the important ones :)

If your already running a 2.x apache version you should be able to update by simply backing up the httpd.conf and overwriting the default one after install.

Unless ive overlooked something this should work as i have done it a few times now, mostly due to the installs being on my main partition.

Edit: wow i could have said that in so many less words, i blame the time :P

Ok it looks like I was able to fix the MySQL, it was already at automoatic but I changed it and then changed it back agian just incase... But the Apache.exe and PHP.exe services are not showing up in the services area. They are in my processes screen though... So I think that I need to set them up manualy as services?

You could most probably just put them in the startup, and then whenever your computer starts the programs would load. PHP should be installed as a module, as I remember.

I use an old version of apache that works great, so my resulsts might vary from yours.

When installing PHP, you shouldn't have to run PHP.exe anymore after its run. Just select Apache as the http server you want to run it as.

Oh sorry, I got busy... I just reinstalled/installed the latest versions of both Apache 2.0.48, PHP 4.3.4, and MySQL can't rem the ver off hand... Configured them manualy and got my local server working fine... Then I installed my copy of Macrmdeia Studo MX with CF MX and knocked everything out of whack..., but turns out that the latest update for CF MX incliudes the latest .jre file for Apache 2.04+ so now all os good again... :)

    Thanks
