It's no secret that complex pieces of software, particularly operating systems, are vulnerable to all sorts of attacks. Discovering them takes developer gumption, or mass popularity. The latter of the two is served with a garnish of scrutiny from security researchers and honest-to-goodness 1337 h4xx0rz.

With life imitating theory, Mac OS' prevalence in 2007 has yielded more confirmed critical flaws than ever before. In fact, published flaws in Apple's OS has steadily increased each year since its release, and the growth parallels the operating system's adoption rate.

Perhaps most stunningly, however, is that Mac OS had more vulnerabilities than Vista and XP combined... By a factor of ten. It is worth noting, however, that Windows is still leading the race in terms of code in the wild that can exploit vulnerabilities.
