Is my 9700pro dying?

My Crucial 9700pro is getting cranky :(

I have two monitors attached to it, using latest cats.

Monitor 1 has started to occasionely flicker and then refresh.

Monitor 2 refreshes and even stopped working completely for an hour today.

Both are iiyama 451's which work fine with my laptop VGA (I tested them earlier). So any ideas? Im tempted to call Crucial tomorrow and report it in, just curious what anyone would think it could be? Both monitors on their way out?? Doesn't make sense.

Try a diffrent video card, diffrent monitor, or try the monitors on another PC.

I did try the monitors on another PC. My laptop VGA. Both monitors dont exhibit the symptoms (I did say in my original post :p)

Shorty, I take it you are using the 15-pin SUB-D VGA port on the Radeon 9700 Pro to connect to the monitors.

How about trying the DVI port & the DVI to VGA dongle.

It could be a dying connector, although it's highly unlikely.

I already use it on monitor two :)

I swapped them around incase it was one monitor playing up. Negative, does the same.

I went through all the usual before I posted :)

Check cables, swapped connectors around, tested different VGA source for an hour on each monitor, new drivers, nVidia smartgart (NF7-S board nforce drivers)...

Last thing I would suggest before RMA is try it in another motherboard. If it shows the same problematic symptoms... RMA the bastard. :)

Card over heating possibly, due to an attack of the dust bunnies. Happened to me once with similar effects.

No dustbunnies in my rig mate ;) I keep it nice and clean.

I think I had better check the fan though, as there is 6 fans in my rig.. and the case temps are always 26/27 degrees :)

Maybe uninstall the newest cat's and put in 3.5's or 3.7's

Al may be onto something. I don't want to beat a dead horse here, but what version of the Catalyst software are you using Shorty?

    God, i love you Thrax.

    Shorty,

Throw those 3.9's out of the window. Try the 3.7, remove ANY extra dual monitor stuff (even if i know you love that proggie), do not use reforce or something like that, just plain dual on the 3.7.
