Remember the days when mobile drives were considered large in 40-80GB flavors? Undoubtedly some of our faithful readers are thinking "I remember when you could class them by megabyte!" So how does a 500GB mobile drive grab you?

It boasts three platters, six read/write heads, and connects across a SATA link in 1.5Gb/s and 3.0GB/s. Unfortunately, the drive is limited to 5400RPM, but we fear the world would explode if such a large mobile drive also exhibited proper performance.

the next generation will probably have 100 Terabyte drives...
