Wireless HD (WiHD) is a consortium of high-profile developers such as Intel, Toshiba and NEC all devoted to broadcasting 1080p signals wirelessly in the unlicensed 60GHz spectrum. Launched late in November of 2006, the consortium is close to bringing its v1.0 specification to bear.

As soon as the specification is finalized, the body will send the spec out to adopters and promoters, then wait the good wait for devices to be evaluated and certified. While no public timetable has been announced, we could see devices as early as 4Q08, which is just in time for the next round of the Yule HD rush.
