Computer keeps shutting down

Hello There,

I have a dodgy computer! It shuts down all the time, the on/off button keeps getting stuck and when I try to do a Panda/Kaspersky scan, it closes the windows. I am going to get the switch fixed as soon as I can - the second time that it has gone on me, is this the reason it turns off suddenly? I have tried to do spyware scans in safe mode, but I can't ever finish them there either. Panda came back with 2 malware detected, but I can never finish the scan. AVG virus scan and Spybot S&D don't work either.

Anyway, if you have a spare moment, I would really appreciate some ideas on where to go next - the new computer shop is looking good!!!

Thanks

Niki

Hello and welcome to the forums

My name is Katana and I will be helping you to remove any infection(s) that you may have.

Please observe these rules while we work:
    1. If you don't know, stop and ask! Don't keep going on.
    2. Please reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
    3. Please continue to respond until I give you the "All Clear"
(Just because you can't see a problem doesn't mean it isn't there)

If you can do those three things, everything should go smoothly :D

I apologize for the delay in responding, but as you can probably see the forums are quite busy
and sometimes a post manages to slip by us.
Unfortunately there are far more people needing help than there are helpers.

If you still require help please post a fresh Hijack This log to this thread.
I will be notified and I will get back to you ASAP.

    • Save HJTinstall.exe to your desktop.
    • Double click on the HJTinstall.exe icon on your desktop.
    • By default it will install to C:\\Program Files\\Trend Micro\\Hijack This.
    • Click I accept
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a log file button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    • Click Save to save the log file and then the log will open in notepad.
    • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
    • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

There is no apparent malware in your log, do these shutdowns happen when the machine has been on for a while or can they happen soon after switch on ?

    Download and Run ComboFix
    • Download Combofix from one of the links below :

      ComboFix.exe 1
      ComboFix.exe 2
      ComboFix.exe 3

    • You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
    • Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
    • Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log to post in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
    • Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

    Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.
ComboFix SHOULD NOT be used unless requested by a forum helper
