'No Audio Output Device Is Installed' Error :( - Alternative rather than fix?
Right, a newish Dell desktop has this problem - despite spending basically all morning trying to fix it.
I've seen the thread on here from mid 2007, and countless threads from google searches - tried reinstalling drivers from dell site, deleting the device from device manager and letting vista reinstall it etc - to no avail.
However, rather than persevere with this and try to fix it, could I get round it by installing a PCI sound card? - I see I can get a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy for around £20, which according to creatives site 'works with vista' - £20 is a considerably better option than spending ages trying to fix it if 20 quid and a quick pop in will fix it.
(All this just to get a bloody usb voip phone to work - for a sales guy so long term it will save us a packet I spose)
