Can't install Media Player 10 after rollback!!!

The other day I did a clean install for friends of mine and as I usually do I installed a few basic programs for them to get up and running. One of these programs is Media Player 11.
They have since advised me that they don't like 11 and prefer using 10. I then went and rolled back to previous version (which was 9) thinking I could then install 10. Now when I try to install 10 I am unable to and get a message that the program I am trying to install is not compatible with this version of Windows!!! :banghead:

Anyone have any advice?.......

You have to use the media player version that came with the OS or 11, alternatively you could get media player classic.

What if I completely remove Media Player somehow, would that work? Also, what is Media Player Classic/ Do you have a link?
    Cheers....

Best thing to do for them is get the K Lite Mega Codec it comes with all the video codecs that they'll need + comes with media player classic.

Media Player Classic, is the basic version of Media Player that used to come with win98, 2k etc... it's very bare bones, but that's the key. It doesn't require any real overhead so it's fantastic on a slower machine or if you want to watch video's while you are doing other things in the background.

Thanks for the tip, but they don't want old school Media Player, they just want Media Player 10 cos that's what they are used to. I've read a couple of forums that have various ways of removing Media Player altogether, I am wondering if I completely remove Media Player if I will be able to install 10?????

MP11 isn't all that different from 10...The skin's different and the URGE link is hardcoded into the skin.

I agree, in fact I personally like 11 better. It looks good with "Royale Noir" theme too. However, the "customer" is always "right" so I thought I'd try to get them set up how they like it (it shouldn't have been this hard)........damn you Micro$oft.............

Oh totally. The Royale Noir theme kicks so much hardcore ass, even though I don't use WMP for anything. It's either VLC or MPC depending on the OS.

By far my favourite media software at the moment is Media Centre. Have been using it for a few months now with the USB remote and it kicks ass.....it currently provides hours of entertainment from any where in the house or out by pool, it's the only reason I continue with Vista.
