James Cicconi, Senior Executive VP of External and Legislative Affairs (Wow), ponies up to Slyck's table today to give a rare interview about AT&T's take on BitTorrent filter as an ISP.

If someone is using a p2p network on a cell 24/7, it can adversely impact the service of their neighbors. It has the effect of not providing the service paid for. Overwhelming usage is from BitTorrent traffic. No one wants to get to the point [where] we say, “You can’t do that.”

It makes for an interesting read, but stunningly myopic statements like this leave a sour note on what could've been a better chance for AT&T to promote themselves. Now, if you'll excuse us, we'll be on our <s>dialup</s> EDGE phones, ruining people's cell phones with a torrent of bits!
