i just bought a new cd player for my truck that plays mp3's.
i want to rip my legal cd's down to mp3 to play on my new cd player.
what free program is the best for doing this?
downloaded a free one last night and spent a couple of hours just trying to get ahead of the spyware it installed.:banghead:

thanks, derek

I use CDDA-Xtractor, which uses Lame to encode your MP3's from CD. Does exactly what I need it to do. :)

    No spyware.

The interface isn't exactly the greatest, but it is freeware. :)

    CDex 1.5.

Supports the newest methods of MP3 encoding with LAME: CBR, VBR, ABR, all quality modes, CDDB support, and a whole damn slew of other options that I've only begun to explore.

    It's free, and it's awesome.

EAC + Lame is the best in my opinion with CDex being just behind it.

I used to use CDex, but you have to use dBpoweramp! It's free and amazing. The best ripper I've ever used.

Forgot to mention that once you put in the cd it will automatically find the CD title and all the track titles. The thing is great, much faster and easier to use IMO. One of Dak's top 10 software picks ;).

I've bene using freeripmp3 for about 2 years now, been working fine for me, just started to use DBPoweramp for converting between formats (ogg to mp3 specifically for use in iTunes)
