Courtesy our forum friend Black Hawk, PC Gamer Blog reveals some more juicy dirt on the upcoming changes to the wildly popular Team Fortress 2.
Of course, we've heard before that there will be a new achievement pack and a new map coming out soon... What's new is that with the achievements will come unlockable, upgradeable weapon loadouts for each class.
Starting with the Medic in the coming weeks, you'll be able to unlock the Overhealer, which doubles the health for the recipient, while being much slower to ubercharge. This changes the strategy of the Medic a great deal - no longer will a Medic strive to "attach" himself to a Heavy or Soldier - he'll run around and seek out every member of his team in order to boost everyone's health for that extra advantage. This is just one of many unlockable weapons we can look forward to.
In addition to the new map (cp_badlands), there will be an entirely new gametype released. The first iteration is a map where the Blu team must escort a minecart to the Red headquarters. The more Blu team members are standing near the cart, the faster it will move. If a Red team member is near the cart, it stops entirely. The map takes the cart through several stages, much like Dustbowl.
With just these few changes, Valve is adding an unprecedented amount of value to an already amazingly valued Orange Box. They're giving us yet another entirely new game for the money we've already paid.
Thanks, Valve! Icrontic loves ya, baby.
