windows media center remote nuisance

i just installed beyond tv on a windows vista home premium machine, and i was wondering if i could make my media center remote that came with the tuner card not launch media center any more. any time i hit the guide button for example, it brings up the beyond tv guide, and proceeds to launch media as well. i know theres no way to uninstall media center, but is there some way to kill it's existence? or can i at least break the remote's association with media center? there must be a way. thanks
