No Audio Output Device Installed-Windows Vista

edited February 2008 in Science & Tech
Hi,

One day I turned on my computer and for some reason I had no sound. I had always been using vista, it just stopped working and now there is a red X next to the little volume icon on desktop.

Can someone please help and walk me through what I have to do to fix it. The computer I am using is a Compaq Presario B1900 Notebook

Thankyou

An 'x' on the volume icon means that the sound has been muted, Either look for a mute button near the keyboard on the laptop, or right click on the sound icon, and uncheck the 'mute' box.

IF the topic is what Windows Vista is telling you, then you could download a new appropriate driver from HP's support site and install it.
