Battle For Middle-Earth 2 : After-Battle stat screen hangups

edited February 2008 in Gaming
Probably going to have more luck posting this here than on the EA website, and I've been told vague but good things in passing about Icrontic, heh.

After the Victory or Defeat "ring logo" appears, the after-battle report screen loads with the line-graph showing your progress with resources, units, fortresses etc.

However, I have an issue with this screen; please note that this issue did NOT occur the first time I finished a battle, but after exiting the game and starting it again it occurs every time.

The line-graph screen (and every screen therafter until the Main Menu) begins to load normally, but after a period ranging between 0.5 to 3 seconds it locks up - sound begins looping, all input from mouse and keyboard is impossible - complete lockup.
After about a minute or so, the procedure repeats - a few moments of further loading of the stats screen, then another lockup.

This repeats until I can use the breif pauses between lockups to get out of the stats screen.

I'm loath to dismiss this as an insufficient hardware issue since I can run the game reasonably on high and perfectly on medium.

Any ideas what's causing this and how I can fix it?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

P.S.
If this sounds like a load of gibberish to most of you - my sincerest apologies for wasting your time.

aye, its a good game. Are you using the RotWK? It sound like a minor RAM issue to me if its hanging then starting again, or processor. try running it at a lower setting and see if it stil happens

    Collector's Edition, not RotWK.
Yea, it is a good game. I'll try turning the graphics down later - dunno why that would effect the after-battle "report" screens though.

probably because under the report the game is still going and you are still rendering it, and the rendering of the game and the calling of the stats to create the graph can bottleneck your CPU.

You should so watch the bonus disc (community section).

Also try to install new Graphic drivers... or remove 1 stick of ram for a game.
