How many watts is enough?

edited June 2003 in Hardware
Anyone want to give me a straight out, best guess answer?

AXP 1800+, TNT (orig) Video, Audigy Plat, 2 Optical, 1 HDD

I'm looking at the Enermax Whisper 300w (it's 28.)
My other options were the other Enermaxes

$28 for the 301
$44 for the 365

Given those choices I'd go w/ the 365.

I like the PSU in your sig though. The Antec True Power 430 is what I just purchased . . . nice PSU!

It depends, if you are looking to upgrade your computer after some time then I would recommend the 365w power supply if not then i guess the 301w power supply would be fine.

I say 300w is enough, but it could come down to the quality of the specific ps, and enermax sounds like it will do the job. my choice is the whisper.

The whisper 300W will be fine. The only reason to go for a higher wattage PSU would be if (like Tropical mentioned) you think you might start upgrading it considerably.

Alright, they're both whispers. It's going in my parents computer (read, not likely to be upgraded in the near future.)

    I'll get them the 301.

I would go with the antec, but I don't want to spend 50 dollars on the 330w
