C:\WINDOWS\system32\etrqjmeb.dll

I am getting an error on start up and it says cant find this file. I am on a friends laptop and it took me like 4 hours just to get it clean enough to get online. I found over 450 trojans and alot of other bad stuff. I got alot of it cleaned up and it is running pretty good now but I keep getting an error that says it can not find that system32 file. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

    Hi Window Licker. :)

If you need assistance, please do the followings:

    Step 1:

Scan the infected computer with Panda ActiveScan
    • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
    • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
    • Enter your Country
    • Enter your State/Province
    • Enter your e-mail address and click send
    • Select either Home User or Company
    • Click the big Scan Now button
    • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
    • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
    • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
    • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location.
    Step 2:

Please download HJTInstall to the Desktop of infected Computer.
    • Doubleclick HJTInstall.exe to install it.
    • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
    • Click on Install.
    • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
    • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
    • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
    • Save the log to a convenient location as you'll need to post it soon.
Don't use the Analyse This button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted.
Don't have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Step 3:

Post the contents of the ActiveScan report, along with HijackThis log.

Some bad guys seems to be still present.

Please make sure you read the instructions carefully and follow them exactly. That way you speed up the cleaning process and ensure that everything is going right. If you find anything strange or you have questions, please let me know. Always ask before doing if you are unsure!

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with Notepad to your desktop because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix.

    Step 1:

    Please download to your Desktop

    SDfix from here
    Brute Force Uninstaller from here

    Step 2:
    • Right click the BFU.zip on your desktop, and choose Extract All
    • Click "Next"
    • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
    • Click "Browse"
    • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
    • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
    • Click "Make New Folder"
    • Type in BFU
    • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish"
RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (C:\BFU)

Do not do anything with these yet!

    Step 3:

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

    Step 4:

    Please reboot into Safe Mode
    • Restart your computer
    • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually.
    • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear.
    • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
    • Choose your usual account.
    Step 5:

Once in Safe Mode, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
    • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
    • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon foldericon.png and select alcanshorty.bfu
    • Press Execute and let the program do its job.
(You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
    • Wait for the "complete script execution" box to pop up and press OK.
    • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
    Step 6:

    After that, please run SDFix.
    • Open the extracted SDFix folder (C:\SDFix) and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
    • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
    • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
    • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
    • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
    • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum)
    Step 7:

In your next post, please include the following:
    • the contents of SDFix log
    • a fresh HijackThis log

I keep running into a problem when trying to run the brute force prog. It gets to 98% and says Current action: Trying heuristics. I tried it 3 times and all 3 times it gets stuck there. I ran the rest anyway and here is the results.

Thank you. Please do the following...

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

    * In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download.
    * It is important that it is saved directly to your Desktop.
    • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
    • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
    • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

    All right, let's continue. :)

    1. Please open Notepad
    • Click Start , then Run
    • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.
    2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:
    File::
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\yayvu.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\ateoslyq.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\wsim32.exe

    Registry::

    3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

    4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.
