10000 donations would be more useful to them than 10000 signatures.

They ain't gonna make business decisions based on petitions. They make 'em based on the numbers: users and dollars.

10000 signatures are more likely to happen than 10000 donations, and if people realise that there's alot of interest in keeping Stage 6, people may be more likely to donate. Who knows, but it's better doing something than nothing, unless you're going to donate ;)

Ah, you're beginning to understand, then, what I was getting at.

I'm sure the website owners are well aware of the interest in their website by their captive (and now seemingly demanding) audience. What their audience isn't quite aware of, apparently, is that all that HD-esque (particularly compared to YouTube) content you can view is expensive on the backend.

I know petitions don't equal funds, but it's better than nothing :(

Right. I didn't mean to poo-poo on the thought of the petition. I'm just saying they need money, not signatures.

Sorry for my ignorance, but, what exactly is Stage 6?

It's like youtube, but with high def content. Much higher quality trailers, videos, etc. For example when we got the 1080p display here at ICHQ, we went to Stage6 to download the 1080p version of the sony bravia "HD bouncy balls" commercial. You just can't get that stuff on youtube.

but it doesn't have user-created content, so it's not really like youtube.

As long as Stage6 needs 10% of all Divx's revenue to sustain they would be stupid to keep it operational.
