The machaine is
AMD 1099
Xp Pro
1280MB of ram

Here's the problem I can see it's sending packets,
but not receiving.
I checked the devices in device manager and it's working
properly.
in the Network Connection details
It give the physical address,IP adress and subnet mask
but it don't show anything for DNS server,DHCP server

When I try to repair connection it gives
" Windows could not finish repairing the problem because the
following action cannot be completed.
Renewing your IP adress
For assistance, contact the person who manages your
network."

So what do I need to do.( at this time there's no firewalls
or antivirus)
Thanks

Please follow these steps. Lastly, if those fail, see if you can reinstall IE6 SP1 to correct the problem.
    oouldn't find HKLM\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\Winsock
    HKLM\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Services\\WinSock 2

My choices are Microsoft TCP/IP version 6 or Network Monitor Driver or
    NWLinkIPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol

Well tried to reinstall IE6 SP1 but it has IE6 SP3 on it so I can't
I tried to put IE7 on to fix it and no luck so I restored it back, just in case
IE7 would have put me into a bigger mess.
So I'm right where I was when I started this post, I checked device manger
    it's good there.
So where else should I look or anything else to try ?
The lost of info or OS don't matter, but like to keep the OS(windows XP Pro)
like I said it sents packets just don't received
    RAM is now 640MB

In the registry, neither of those folders exist?

Please also read my instructions more closely, as it clearly indicates that you must hit "Select disk" and navigate to specific folders. :)

I'll do it in the morning, But there's something else there is a stick
of 512MB and one of 128MB but the system info says 1280MB
is that strange? It don't add up
