    Welcome to Icrontic Getting Old,

Really needed to stay with your original request here and not start a new one. And actually you do post the logs here in your request, and not attach them as you have. Too tough to review like that, and not always available to others needing to see the progress here. I'll get the ball rolling by posting the HijackThis log for you. The other scan only showed harmless cookies, and some SmitFraudFix tools you must have used at some point, and some minor items, so we'll skip that for now.

So far that log does not show what would have brought the earlier issues you posted. You do have that Pando Search Assistant installed, which as you can see here is considered adware bundled and not desirable to have. You need to go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel and if Pando is there uninstall it.

There also is a missing startup item that appears corrupted, but is a startup option used by many malwares, so let's assume malware presence and act on that for now.

First follow the steps here to disable SpyBot's TeaTimer, as it will interfere with the repairs.

Then To keep them from interfering with the repairs, be sure to temporarily disable all antivirus/anti-spyware softwares while these steps are being completed. This can usually be done through right clicking the software's Taskbar icons, or accessing each software through Start - Programs.

Download ComboFix.exe from here to your desktop.

Then disable your net access, and click the downloaded file to run the repair.

When starting ComboFix will cause your computer's internal speakers to produce two beeps, and during the start process display two warnings. These are intended to discourage people who are not getting help in the forum from just experimenting with tools they do not understand. Just to inform you so you will understand that the procedures are expected, and okay.

ComboFix will also change the drive autoplay settings there as it's own added security measure. When we have completed all repairs here we will return the default Windows settings.

A caution - do not touch your mouse/keyboard until the scan has completed. The scan will temporarily disable your desktop, and if interrupted may leave your desktop disabled. If this occurs, please reboot to restore the desktop, however given the infection there ComboFix will likely cause a reboot in order to complete it's repairs.

(ComboFix will also disable any screensaver settings made, so know that at some point when we complete repairs you will need to reset your screensaver)

Re-enable net access, and post back the C:\ComboFix.txt log as well as a new HijackThis log please.

I think the user has more problems

You are a go-between for a friend here? Only looks like that Pando toolbar is the actual infection related item showing. The corrupted startup has been corrected as well through some action on that system. Since the info is here there are some bogus generic registration reminders that can be removed now, but nothing more to suggest I can see.

Close Internet Explorer and all running programs and run a scan in HijackThis. Place a check next to all of the following lines, then select “Fix Checked” and close HijackThis. A reboot will be necessary at some point to complete the changes.

    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe
    O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe

Then do a search for and delete any files found with those names.

No, I am not a friend, I Am the user. That is why I said the user is the problem. Anyway, thanks for all the help. Should I turn Tea Timer back on or is it necessary? Very much appreciate you being patient with me, since this was my first time at this. Will recommend this site to any of my friends who might need the help someday. Thanks again.

    I Am the user
    :smiles:

Ain't we all. TeaTimer gives you reports of activities with the registry, and ask you to make choices against them. However, unless you know what it is presenting or the uses of that, what choice do you make? A curious security measure, but it also is an active monitoring item, so if you find things being blocked or slow you may want to opt out of using it. Glad to provide the ideas here.
