Share USB devices over LAN

For some reason, i can't access a couple of USB harddrives over the network.
I am sure i have done this before, but i can't for the life of me remember what i did. The drive itself is found in network devices as usual, but i can't access it. Only on the local client. Is there a service on the host that controls this?

The drive has to be shared as a shared drive/folder. No different then any other file share.

    Hi and thanks,

That part i know of, it's shared just like any other shared drives i have.
Can anyone that have a thumbdrive or a USB harddrive try and share it on the network?

Edit. Got to be a service i think. It did work on a brand new computer here.

I just right clicked on mine and shared the volume, like I would a folder on a regular disk.

On the machine you are having an issue sharing the drive. Try sharing just a regular folder on it. Likely it doesn't have file sharing enabled on the machine.

Thats the weird part...i can share the harddrive itself on that computer, files, folders and whatnot, but not any attached USB storage devices. It's gotta be some sort of service.
