Travian: big alliances

These are the alliances I've noticed that have several wings and are quite large in our quadrant of the server:

Myth
Zero
LEG (League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)
UK Jato
Nuke

We're on semi-decent terms with Jato, given our mutual alliance with Panther. The others I don't know much about. At the moment, I think our best strategy with them is to stay away from them and hope they don't target us.

Any other big alliances around that you've seen?

As an aside, I'm contacting the wings of Panther (PANTH1 & PANTH2) regarding forming an alliance with them; figured we might as well.

There's this small LOTR alliance where we're moving in. Anyone talk to them at all? One of their smaller members attacked me once, so I told him to knock it off, and I haven't heard from him since ;)

I'm starting to lean towards "raiding the unholy bejeezus" out of the LOTR alliance unless you guys prefer I didn't...

//edit: I'm going to upgrade "leaning towards" to "would like to" now that I checked Snake-Eyes' troop history and see that their top player tried (and failed) to scout it last week. :rarr: I'll give him something to scout...

Then we ask them to join our alliance or suffer this again. We will not stand for weak neighbors that cannot learn to play nicely. :D

Speaking of neighbors, take special note of "IntelCore" who is just northeast of our stronghold (4 villages). He just raided Shipwreck for a second time, so we may need to defend ourselves from him.

He took 11,000 wheat from me... but only ~20 each of the rest :D Broady, Q, and BH all got some of my last-minute fire sale :D

I was wondering about that little "bonus". Core2 Thanks You. We'll keep IntelCore on the radar... :werr:

Michae7 attacked Snake-Eyes again with his pittance of an army. I warned him... he's now my first target.

I love how you guys have vast armies, anyone pisses you off you threaten them in a kickass way then remove their villages from the map when they refuse to bow. Gogo! I just sent 3k of everything to myself, and I'm 10 hours away! :( I'll need to do like 4 storehouse upgrades before I log off tonight

I'm getting pummeled by IntelCore (from Myth) at both Shipwreck AND Snake-Eyes. My wall at Shipwreck was just torn down (from lvl 10), but I evacuated my supplies and army in time. I'm not sure whether to engage or retreat at Snake-Eyes, but I'm leaning towards retreat. Be aware!

HOLY COW... they mean business. Shall we try to enter into a NAP (Non-Aggression Pac) with Myth? Not an alliance just not attack them and they won't attack us?

I wouldn't take diplomatic action based on this. I think he's acting alone - he has built his own personal stronghold not far from ours.

I can hold my own against these attacks until my forces are better developed and our powerbase is built. If I really was invested in stopping the attacks, I could relocate all my forces to Shipwreck and watch it play out. At the moment, I'm content to shuffle forces and supplies and bide my time.

cool... That works. I'd rather not have you bogged down in a long drawn out boarder war with him... You're too vital to the operation. :D

I've been thinking about this. He is either wildly optimistic about the resources he can pillage (despite that he's only ever gotten wheat from me), or he understands that I might suddenly appear with a thousands-strong force at any moment. He has never successfully scouted how many troops I have :ninja:

Dooooh... "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders, the most famous of which is, "Never get involved in a land war in Asia." But only slightly less well known is this, "Never go in against a <s>Sicilian</s> {IC} Member, when death is on the line."

How can you tell if he scouted how many troops you had? I've never seen anything that told me what the person was able to scout. I only see that they did scout my village.

If his scout lives, he reports back either 1) The number of troops & Resources OR 2) The defenses/ main buildings & troops.

If your scouts kill his scouts, he receives no intel.

Precisely. I've always had scouts in my town, and no one has ever gotten to one of my villages in that area while I had troops there.

5 scouts seems to keep the curious <300 guys away if you're under 300 population. A big hitter will send 50 or more scouts and then it doesn't really matter since he already knows that most <300 villages cannot afford to have 100 troops and he will probably come to squash you to make sure you don't become to big for your britches.... or something like that.

I was once scouted by a certain someone *cough* Q *cough* - But I tend to keep one scout just to keep tabs on activity into my first city :rolleyes2

Had a thought on the way home: Offer the LOTR an offer to disband and join our alliance. They seem to be an alliance based on the convenience of location... right in our powerbase. If they decline... well then I have a solution for that, too.

I was thinking the same thing... no sense having another alliance in our area. I've been attacking a LOTR guy by me. I think he'd like to see my troops come into town to protect instead of rape, pillage, and plunder... :D

Sounds good - Do we have to seek approvals for people joining ? It's just I have a particular person in mind :)

EDIT: Just so you know, I have siege weapons at the ready (or able to ;)), so I can assist in said "persuasion" :)

Fal Dara has already swatted a hornet's nest. I just received a message from eddiemad from ARRSE NW.
hello there im Matt from ARRSE NW i have had abit of a problem with Fal Dara i am willing to let this end if he stops attacking my players can you have a chat with him.

What is interesting is that I sent him this on March 3rd...
    Lord Eddiemad,

I had the privileged of communicating with Lord Smith639 a week or so ago. At that time, he offered my alliance an olive leaf after a small squabble between myself and a small village under your alliance's protection. Things worked out very well and Smth639 indicated that a potential alliance might be struck between our groups.

As Lord Seneschal of the {IC} Alliance, I have been given the power to extend an invite to ARRSE NW and her coalition of allies. Please consider this mutually beneficial proposal. Until then, have a safe and prosperous day.

    - Lord Seneschal Q

So... I replied to eddiemad with this...
    Lord Eddiemad...

This is quite interesting that you have called upon me to mediate between Fal Dara and several of your "friends". Not more than 3 days ago, I contacted you regarding a potential alliance. That correspondence was ignored. Knutsford and Smith639 both spoke on our behalf. That seems to have been ignored also. Several from JatoUK have also spoken on our behalf.

So.. now I have a dilemma. So far, we have been trying to work out some diplomatic alliance and now that we have become a thorn you want us to stop... Bold move. Your alliance and corresponding wings, are quite powerful and we are no match for them. But the question is, why ignore us when your own members and allies all support working with us?

I will consider talking to Fal Dara and his over 5000 troops. Meanwhile, please consider that this could have been avoided day ago.

    - Lord Seneschal Q

And he just replied with this....
yep understand that, but he has three attacks heading his way that cannot be stopped as the person who sent them is offline, and also to let you know Fal Dara only joined your alliance because his last one told him to stop attacking one of our players
    cheers Matt

So... he STILL does not address the alliance issue or the lack of response to the messages regarding an alliance. What to do...

People like that are idiots... Probably not worth working with them. I suggest we talk to members that may want to join us, then incinerate the ones that do not co-operate.

ARRSE and it's many wings are not something to be ignored. We are a VERY small fish in a big pond of big fish. We're ranked 207th in alliances. The coalition's like Myth, and Zero could sneeze and not notice that we;ve been wiped away with their snot.

We need to align ourselves to help protect ourselves or we become the farmed alliance. That being said, we are new and already moved up the latter REALLY fast. There is no reason why ARRSE shouldn't group with us. They aren't so big to be immune from the bigger alliances.

I wasn't sure if ARRSE was an acronym or an insult until I saw the second mention of it  I see your point, but I doubt that Myth and Zero are going to come after us unless we really pee them off somehow. But still, I've been down the road of agreeing to work with power, no matter how completely idiotic the person in charge may be... short term it's worth it, long term it really isn't. After a while reputation and even your will to play the game are soon at stake. >.< My 2 pence.

Q, do we really need to worry about them? Are there too many of them near our powerbase or something?
    broady81 wrote:

    Nah. Go ahead.

Broady, did you contact LOTR at all? I want them in our alliance yesterday :p
