8800 GT OC the best bang for the buck right now?
This card $220 card:

seems to be scoring as well or better than many cards that are still selling for $400-$600

Am I reading something wrong or is this a real sweet spot in the video card market right now?

The 8800gt still fairly significantly outperforms the 9600 and for only 10 dollars more.
Also, the 9600GT is now $139 w/ MIR.
All 9600GT are G94.

It will work AND it won't be any slower. No video card I know of even uses all of a single PCIe 1.0 slot's bandwidth anyway.
Think of it like this - 3-4 years ago gigabit NIC cards were being included with home computers, but 1% of the home PC market had gigabit routers. STILL most home routers are 10/100. PCIe 2.0 is a nice idea, but nothing in today's hardware market uses it for its intended purpose, and there's a chance 3.0 will be out before 2.0's specs are even fully utilized.
sweet, that's exactly what I Was looking for. I wasn't sure if the PCIe 2.0 made a huge difference in its performance. thanks!
You don't like overclocking but you buy overclocked cards? That produces the same result... Whether you overclock it or the manufacturer overclocks it is irrelevant, anything that's overclocked will be hotter- If you're into overclocking you go out and buy extra cooling anyway, so it evens out.
You're British. You of all people should get sarcasm.
