A program that makes a movie fit on a 700mb CD-R?

edited December 2003 in Science & Tech
I read about this program just a few days ago on one of the forums I frequent and now I can't find it anywhere. Anyways, the main selling point for this program is that it will basically make a movie (generally AVI) that is just a little over 700 MB fit onto a CD-R. This would be a huge help for me, I have quite a few of those. I have Googled and Googled and nothing has turned up. I don't want to change it to VCD and I don't want to cut off the credits or anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance-DaK

    Welcome to reencoding the movie.

Expect to spend 4-6 hours a movie.

No, it's nothing like that. I was at home on my mom's computer when I saw this and I was convinced I'd remember where I saw it . It was basically a point and click kind of thing.

Must be, unless someone have invented the best storagesollution of mankind.

Just get a bunch of 99 minutes cdr's and use overburn in Nero.

I mean it doesn't turn a 950 mb movie into a 700 mb movie or anything :p. It supposedly has the capability to make a 715-730 (I'm assuming) mb movie to fit on a cd. I think it's feasible...now if I could only remember where I saw it....

Sure - Nero can put anything under 750 MB to a 750 MB CD...

    dak,

if that's not overburning, it HAS TO BE some sort of downgrade of the quality of the movie to fit. The file is already as compressed as it can be.

    Ghoos,

Best maths i have heard of. I love the simplicity of your thinking ;D

Here's the information. Not quite what I was expecting, I'll give it a try later.

    er...

800mb on an 80 minute CD is impossible.

VCD doesn't offer greater storage capacities, it's just an mpeg2 video format.

Mode2/XA VCDs will probably piss most players off.

IF you're making a VCD, you're foolish to play it on a computer. The format is designed with a regular TV in mind.

I put the movies on disks and then play them on my modded xbox. I'll try this, see if it works.
