Tactical ideas

Something I've been pondering is oasis/village defense balance.

I've decided to put a 2:1 ratio of Legionnaires to Eq. Legati (scouts) in them. 2/3 tribes use cavalry as scouts, which is what Leg. are best against. I ramp up my oasis defense as possible to maximize the killing of any incoming scouts. More scouts there with backup = more incoming scouts killed. My goal is to keep anyone from receiving intel on my oasis before I have time to counter. If you have at least twice as many scouts there as they send, it's likely you will kill them all.

I've pulled all my Praetorians (awesome infantry def.) into my villages. They were in my oases, but I think I may not have the response time necessary to withdraw them in many cases.

I'm placing priority on Praetorian armoury upgrades in general, right now.

Yeah... I started building some defensive troops too. Macemen, Axemen, and knights geared for offense with upgrades to attack. Spearmen and Paladins for defense with defensive bonuses.

I STILL move my troops to the oasis every night. I'd rather loose 100k during a raid then 500k in troops AND 100K.

Ah, see, I'm skittish of losing another villages; I dare not vacate them at night.

So, am I right in this. When you spawn your fifth village, you break some sort of protection clause and all but your capital are capturable, right? So, since I've never spawned a 5th, all of mine are protected from being conquered.

That's the rule as I understand it, and what I've seen in the game thus far corroborates it.

I don't want to be smacked down like you did. I may NEVER expand then. ;D
