Mapping a drive in Vista - Evil!

OK, so I've mapped a drive on a vista machine.
I can access the drive fine from other vista machines and xp machines, however, when I try to access one of the folders inside the share I get an access denied error.
The folder inside the share has identical properties and permissions as the share one - i.e. allow everyone, full control etc.
This is really driving me crazy now, I've tried everything I can think of! - It makes no sense that I can access the main drive but not a folder on it!
Any ideas?!
Edit:
There is no firewall or AV sofware running on either PC (turned off to eliminate it, its not always unprotected!)
UAC is turned off in vista

But right click on the drive, check the security and make sure everything there is setup correctly. Then check to make sure that it's passing on permissions to it's children. Then check the folder in the same way and ensure that it's accepting permissions from it's parent and passing them to it's children.
