Got a problem on a elderly friends pc. THe Dell pc wouldnt boot to the HD after the power went out. It gave me no Boot device ready. Which got me. the HD picks up in the bios and all. So i took it plugged it into mine. Vista picks it up installs the drivers but i cant see it in My computer. I just want to save the info off it.

Maybe testdisk can recover/repair it so you can get the info off it.

You also may want to try putting it back in the Dell pc.
Then reset the CMOS by jumper and take the battery out for a min or two.
The power outage may have corrupted the bios boot.
    Reseting it may fix it.

As I said on IRC twice:

The power outage means she probably had a head crash which destroyed one or more of the platters. By attempting to keep powering on, you potentially made it worse.

    You have two options:

    1) Spinrite
    2) Kroll Ontrack
