Need a new mic...

Hey guys. I've been told many times when playing TF2 that my mic is a piece of junk, which I don't doubt for a second. I bought it cheap like only $15. I need some suggestions for a new mic.

I use a Plantronics 650 and it seems to work great. Nobody ever complains they can't hear me a la Gnome_queen....

Second vote for Plantronics. I got a $25 model from Circuit City that's served me for 7 or 8 years just fine.

I've got an LKG condenser mic with a crappy radioshack mixer, and I'm using Coby Premier 5,000-15khz high response headphones. Real nice combination for recording.

    Plantronics GameCom Pro 1 .
    Crisp, clear, excellent sound.
Over-the-head Binaural Ear-cup so they are very comfortable.
Just plug them in. No drivers to add.
And free shipping at the moment.

I use an Xbox 360 headset. No problems so far.

That's the model shape I have, just without the USB plugin. They're extremely comfortable, and somewhat boomy in the bass department. Makes for fun explosions.

I think I'm going to go with a Plantronics but must they all be so pricey...

Yeah, sometimes the cheap mic is THE way to go. As I told you, I got my mic 6 years ago when I bought my dell. It came with, nothing fancy. It's the clearest little mic I've ever used, and I'll continue to use it until the day I die... maybe even later. That's how good it is.

Have it set up in your coffin in case you wake up.

    Yepper,
I have the ones without the USB plug too.
Other than that they are the same specs/looks etc..
I just couldn't find them without the USB connector.

    Whadda Ya Want!
    Priced at $47.24, there's a $42.71 discount on them
/with free shipping to boot! Not to mention they have inline volume/ mute controls and a noise-canceling microphone. You won't wake everyone else in the house with the loud action of TF2 late in the evenings... uhhmmm (Unless it's you yelling at your opponents in the game.) Which will be a big difference from any cheapy mic. You'll be amazed at hearing your enemy sneaking up behind you.

Logitech makes nice headsets, I bought mine for like $20 and I've been told that the quality is decent.

Hawk brings up a good point: A great headset helps with spychecking, etc... Because you can hear the footsteps very clearly :rarr:

When I wake up after being dead with my dell mic setup, you can bet the first words will be "DEPLOY A DISPENSER HERE"

Everyone can hear me on anything but TF2, or TS (And TS sucks huge balls). The steam phone call chat and Vent work perfectly fine.

That being said, I have a logitech, I like it, but I've had some problems with it lately....

God, headsets and I do not mix.

Thanks for all your help guys, but i don't need one. Lynx came over and fixed mine. It just needed a few tweeks. I might still buy a Plantronics tho. Looks tight.

Is that really grammatically correct? I fail at grammar. So technically you could truncate that sentence to "God and I do not mix" am I right?
