connected to wireless excellently then low

For some reason my wireless connection keeps fluctuating between excellent and low. Everytime it goes to low my laptop doesnt cannot use the internet. After it becomes low i have to disconnect from the network then join again this is so annoying since it happens many times an hour. Also the wireless router is right next to my laptop.

    Do you have a lot of different wireless networks that you can see from your laptop? Have your changed the ssid on your network to something other then the default, tried changing the channel, using any sort of encryption etc..etc...etc...

    Are you using any security? (if so, what type?)

    Do you have the ability try another wireless card? (usb, pcmcia, pci?)

    what do u mean by security and unfortunately i cannot use another card since it is built in

    I think I need a new card because my current one (USB) has the same problem. It holds a Very Good connection and then immediately drops to Low.
