well i figured id try and scan my hds since its been a while. Well i scanned my BRAND new WD 160gig sata drive which has all my info from my old Drive d on it. I was unsure on what to use Norton and McAfee always are the first ones to mind but shortly after they pop in they are kicked out of thought by bad experiences.

Searched Cnet and found Avast Virus protection. Its free and has good ratings so i tried it. worked wonders It founf 4 files that were infected on that drive and cleaned em. Now I am running sweet and its running in the background right now and is only using 2mb to run. Not bad!

That is nice, Is it ICSA certified???

If so, might try it along with my PC-Cillin from Trend Micro. That is ICSA, Checkpoint, and otherwise certified.

AVG from Grisoft is another nice one. Lots of features, even in the free version!

You might check out the featured article here.

I dunno ageek but its nice ill tell you that! Been messing with it for a while and next thing i heard was Your virus codes are now up to date! I was like wow i didnt even have to tell it to do it!

Trend is ok But i found that The big 3 trend McAfee and Norton arent the easiest to get completely out of your system and take up more resources

Well I agree totally on the AV stuff (I haven't run any AV for more than a year). And this sounds good so I'm looking at Avast!'s site... exactly how free is it? Otherwise sounds great.

    No evaluation period?

Oh - now I see it. "avast! 4 Home Edition is freeware for registered home non-commercial use." Weird, another download page on their site was going on about evaluation period and such. Anyway, is that the right one?

    Actually it's still a little confusing... http://www.avast.com/i_kat_6.html
Probably not a problem, I'll just d/l and see what happens. Looks like it'll be fine.

I use AVG. I guess it works well. I suppose I'll figure it out when I get a virus (hopefully not anytime soon).
