OK so my mate has got sky broadband... (can you believe he has been on dial up for this long!!!)

Couldn't wait for me to help him so he basically started trying to change a bunch of settings to get it to work :/ ... he doesnt remember them but it sounds like he's run a bunch of wizards and tinkered somewhere etc.

Anyhow.........

PING router (192.168.0.1) -> Works fine, 0% loss, all good, BUT he cant access the router in the browser for some reason...

PING bbc.co.uk -> destination host unreachable, BUT he gets 0% loss

IPCONFIG -> i got him to do a release and renew, and his IP address is a rather odd 192.168.0.2 - so clearly on the 'internal' range rather than external.

Anyone have any ideas what he might have done or what I can change to get it to work? (Otherwise I'm gonna have to get dressed and lug myself and my lappy over there, not good on a hungover sunday morning :( )

To get into the router if it's the same as here in the US.
You type into the browser address (192.168.1.1) and hit enter.
    Without parentheses of course.
The router settings panel should come up.
Then type admin into the password slot, hit enter.
That should get you into the router.
I lose my connection almost once a week and what I do is recycle my router & modem.
    Here's the steps for that...
    Recycling Router & Modem
Unplug power to Router, then unplug power to Modem, Wait at least one min.
Plug Modem back in and wait for full reset of lights.
Then plug router back in and wait for full reset of lights.
Try your browser to see if you have internet.
If that doesn't work, you need to call the ISP and get all the router & modem settings from them.
They will walk you through them.
I could tell you what my router and modem settings are but I doubt they would be anywhere near what your settings are in UK are.

Well i got him to do a system restore to before he started dicking around with stuff, checked he had everything set to automatically obtain (dns and ip)

Managed, eventually, to get him in to his router, (admin, sky :D ) and then did the 'sky test'

This returned an error code of 100, all the research I have done says if its an error code 100 you have to ring sky tech support :(
