Forum Newb: Needs Help...

edited April 2008 in Hardware
Hi All,
Just registered. Impressed by the collected help given... thanks in advance.

Here is my deal:

I am working on installing WinXP on a server box with Hitachi 76gig HD's (SCSI) that will also be part of a RAID config.

The MB is Intel SE7501WV2.

I am booting via the XP cd and all goes well.
Then I am prompted to provide the SCSI drivers. Ok.

Then the install process continues and the install screen says "Installing Windows..."

Then the error: It never finds the SCSI drive. When I am booting up, I do see the drives in bios.

Any ideas before I bring out the hammer?

Sam

Do you press S and install the drivers from the floppy?

Yes. Then I pick the right driver as well. WinXP 32 bit driver. The processors are Xeon 2.8ghz.

So, it then goes loading everything but at the point of installing WinXP no drives are found.

    Tnx, Sam.

First thing that comes to mind is make sure the BIOS settings are correct.

Another possibility is there could be an additional setup within the RAID device before or after the POST to create the array before Windows setup can see it.
