Help with a PS2 network adaptor?

edited May 2008 in Gaming
Hey everyone, thanks for looking!

I have a fat PS2 I grabbed on a whim, and was able to procure a network adaptor for it, but I don't have the driver/setup install disc. As a result, the PS2 doesn't know the adaptor is there, and I tried to use a game to configure the network connection, but (surprise, surprise) it can't find the network connection.

Is there any way I can confirm the adaptor works without the install disc? Are there drivers on the Sony site somewhere I could grab, or an app I could grab that would confirm it? I know there's HD Loader, but I'd rather not purchase it if I could confirm the adaptor doesn't actually work.

I'd appreciate any help or advice you could offer. Please note I'm not asking for pirate software or anything, just the legit drivers...thanks!

I've got a network adapter for my ps2 and the disk (I'm pretty sure I know where that disk is). If all else fails I can make an ISO of it and upload it to my webspace, but I don't know if your PS2 will read a burned disk

Either way, I found this topic:

    http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps2na&thread.id=117786

    And within, someone said this:
"The "drivers" can be installed using any online compatible game, if you lost the Network Start-Up disc. The only thing the Start-Up disc features that a game will not is that you can register with Sony, but you can also do that via telephone. You can use the almost any online game to make a network configuration. Go to the online section of the game and then look for a button that says, "Create A New Network Configuration". Click that and then follow the instructions on screen. The list of games containing the setup utility is found using this link: PS2 Games Containing the Setup Utility Please note that all games that support this feature may not be contained in this article."

And the link he was talking about:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_2_network_games_containing_setup_utility

Let me know how that goes.

Hey UPSLynx, thanks for the info! I actually found another one yesterday, tried using Burnout 3 to install the drivers, and it worked. I think something is seriously wrong with that other one I have.

Thanks for the offer of making the iso, I really appreciate it bro! Take care!
