Antivirus for Windows 98 help please.

A friend of mine has bought a cheap pc for a student that is staying with her, the pc is Windows 98 and my friend can't find a free antivirus download for it, can anyone help please?

    i really don't think you'll find anything for Windows 98 anymore, especially not for free. I mean, technically you may, but it will be horribly outdated and it will be worthless as far as being effective at keeping the PC virus free..... No antivirus company maintains anything for that OS anymore. It's 12 years old.

    Your only real chance of putting that PC to any kind of usefullness is likely to install Ubuntu on it and that will give it internet through Firefox, Email through Thunderbird and office style functionality through OpenOffice.
