some HD handycam videos to DVD CD

im kinda noob at this, so yeah. I have a handycam that uses a HD. and i wanted to burn some files, not all at a DVD CD. A DVD CD that where i could play it at my PC and a DVD player. what should i do? need for a 3rd party program for this?

    use the fire wire port and plug it in the computer. If that fails get a video capture card and use the video out on the camera .
