Since when did the WUs become gigantic?!

I realised today that I haddent actually looked at what my F@h client has been doing for several months, so, I placed my cursor over the icon in my systray, and left it there for a sec...

'550/2500" was what popped up in a little yellow box...

Perhaps, I've been dreaming, but I don't remember ever seeing a WU over 600.

Is it sending me bigger stuff cause it sees that I fold pretty quickly? or is it just random, that I've never seen a WU that big?

Those suck. They take down the comp for awhile. Take faaaar too long for some reason.

2500 doesnt mean anything really. Nor does it mean it has so many points. And yeah they have bene sending those out for awhile.

I know the assignment servers send out small WUs to the slower computers but I dont know how in depth te WU assigning goes.

The number of steps is not that big of a deal since it doesn't always mean that it will take longer.
The thing that gets me (being dial up) is the size of the results files. I dont mind 800k or even 1.2M, but recently I have had some at 1.8 or 1.9. Sending a finished unit and getting new work is taking 12-15 min.

I see 2500s quite frequently. I prefer the 100 frame wus because they seem to get devoured more quickly, but even if it does take slightly longer to crunch on a 100 frame they're generally worth like 75% more points.

It seems that way, but it could just be in my head . . . I think "naturally it would take longer to reach 2500 than 100" and therefore when I've seen 1250 for a 2500 it seems like it's crawling whereas when I see 50 for a 100 it doesn't. I've never taken a stop-watch to it so the 2500s very well could be finishing more quickly than the 100s. (I have no idea about the 500s.) The 100 frame wus are worth significantly more points than the 2500 frame wus, though, so if the 100 frame wus do take longer, it more than evens out once I consider points per minute.

...it seems to me that those 2500-pointers progress in 5-point increments. I believe that there is a rough equivalence between the 2500 and the 500, just divide the former by 5.

You can also check the point total for any WU here.

Thats why I ran a Genome as a service in the background for when I sent WUs when I had dial-up. That or run 2 clients which I did as well. Sometimes it wouldnt connect automatically at all or someone would be on the phone when it would finish.
