Scout idea

We all need scouts to help us better defend against aggressors.

The Roman Legati and the Gallic Pathfinder both require 2 wheat per hour and therefore consume twice the wheat of the Teutonic Scout.

What I'm thinking is this: Those of us playing as the Teutons can make scouts to send to other villages (of course, the villages the scouts are in would need to pay for the scouts, plus maybe a little extra to compensate the Teutonic player). This could allow us to all field thousands of scouts per village, but only consume half the wheat, thus allowing us to field far more offensive or defensive troops.

It's just an idea. What do you guys think? One major caveat I see is if members leave . . . so, if anyone does do this it would obviously need to be with a member that is very loyal to {IC}.

There are pros and cons to this idea. The pros you have pretty much listed.
The cons are that you wouldnt be able to control the scouts as is sometimes necessary. For instance you may want to use scouts to scout any given village at a certain time. For this you will need your own scouts anyway, and sometimes quite a few. But for strictly defensive purposes *namely in the beginning of the game* it may be a good idea to enlist the services of a teuton alliance member.

If you want you can send me the resources at any time with an IGM telling me how many you want and I will be happy to queue them and send em along. This goes for anyone. And please, only send resources at cost. Nothing more. :-) I never make a profit off of alliance members. :-P

Correct, there are definite cons. I'm not a very aggressive player, so for example, I might have 2k of my own scouts and 2k Teutonic scouts. That would only cost me 6k in wheat, freeing up 2k wheat for defensive/offensive troops. Since I'm not overly aggressive, my purposes for scouts would primarily be for defense, not for reconnaissance.

Tet's scouts are cheap and only use one wheat so they are good for sitting in a village as defensive scouts. To do raids, Gaelic pathfinders are REALLY fast. So, village should be defended by teuts but use pathfinders to scout others.

Sounds like it could definitely work. The best idea would be to find a teuton player near you who is in this for the long haul. Give him res and a list and you can have as many as you can afford.

    Thank you, Terry.

I've been trying to take full advantage of the generosity extended by you, Lambo and SillyViking by building up my army, though I have tried to build up my resource fields a little.

That's exactly what we're there for! Try and strike a balance between troops and fields and we're doing fine.

I think you should do a scout rush with scatter guns. When you get close, break out the bats.
