BIOS Issues

On one of my old Compaq PCs, the BIOS wont tolerate any keystrokes to change setting (ie. boot order) except keys like the arrow buttons and enter.

Is this a driver issue? Do I need to update? How can I fix this?

    Are you sure those aren't the keys you need to make the change? For example I've worked on some older machines and to change the order you'd do the following.

    Use the arrow keys to get to the boot order item, hit enter.
    Arrow down to the device you want to be primary, hit enter.
    Arrow up to put that device at the top of the list, hit enter.

    Etc....
