The seamless wireless roaming that WZC was supposed to cultivate has made it an unacceptable solution for single-WAP environments. As users around the globe connect to their lone wireless router with the service, they suffer lost connections, lost packets and high pings. Today we're going to cover the whys and hows of the issue to ameliorate one of XP's biggest nuisances.

Today, Icrontic explores the pros and cons of Windows XP's Wireless Zero Configuration WiFi client. We go in depth to discover this oft-unrecognized source of WLAN troubles, and go the distance to deliver solutions to the long-standing problems.

Go give it a read!

Thank you for the advice! I think I am having this issue exactly. I've been using a wireless card and decided to play UT this weekend after months of hiatus, only to experience unexplained 2 or 3 second patches of terrible lag every minute or so... Your description sounds exactly like the problem I'm having; I was afraid it was some rare, unresolved bug with UT. I really hope I can resolve the issue.
