Fonts not showing in Fireworks or Dreamweaver CS3

Hi All,
I'm working on the new websites for the school district and associated schools, and have run into a problem.
A number of fonts available to other applications do not appear in the drop down list for Fireworks or Dreamweaver.
I've gone through the usual steps of installing all the fonts in the fonts folder, - even tried reinstalling them with no help.
Any ideas / similar situations?
