Sounds like you had a good day. Embarrassing huh, be grateful that you don't have a mother like me. On Micky's 16th, I got really long banners and put them across the front of the house. Plus balloons. I have also been known to put birthday banners on my car when collecting the kids from school, whilst playing happy birthday very loud on my CD player.
When I get really really old, no doubt they will put me in the old peoples home from hell. Just to get back at me LOL.
