Utilities Poll - The Championship!

After ten individual polls in ten different categories and two weeks of playoffs, the time has come to choose the S-M members single favorite utility program.

There Can Be Only One!

Since polling began, there have been over 100 programs to choose from. We've narrowed that field to seven. (We had a tie in last week's playoff round, so both have been included.)

Obviously, there are alternatives to all of the utilities in their respective categories. The purpose of this playoff is to determine the one tool for which you would not wish to have use an alternative program.

Choosing a single program doesn't mean you can't run a different program in a separate category. If your top choice is Norton AntiVirus, you could still have an mp3 player, just not Winamp, and vice-versa. Looking at the categories, most of us probably run some type of program of each type. The idea is to find the one program which is so good that you would rather make-do with a lesser choice in another category than be without it.

Put another way, if you could only afford to buy a high-performance carburetor or mag wheels for your car and use stock parts for the other, which would you pick?

So, which of these ten would you not want to live without?

Note: Poll closes December 20, 2003!

All these are great programs, and I use them all. But anti virus wins as I have learned that keeping the computer free of virus's keeps me running longer, faster, more.

    Those are my thoughts too.

Keep in mind, we are voting for programs, not categories. Voting for another program doesn't mean you can't use any Anti-Virus program, just not Norton.

Don't mean to be a Johnny-One-Note, but I still get PM's asking to clarify this.

Thanks for voting - looks like this is shaping up to be a very, very close contest! :)

Exactly what I've been saying all along! NAV wins because I'd rather be virus-free above all!

I've tried a whole host of AV programs and in my humble opinion, nothing has ever come to close to Norton. There's Antivirus programs and then there's Norton Antivirus.

p.s (That 'Johnny-One-Note' thing had me in stitches, can't tell you exactly why though, chortle he he;D )

I've been using Norton Antivirus for a few years and I'd have to say I don't know how long my computer would of last without it (especially with my sister's complete lack of computer knowledge). She freaked out once when she got that infamous "You are the 1,000,000 th visitor to this site! collect your prize now!" pop up

I have moved to AVG for my AV workload.
So Spybot it is. I hate that ad trash. (Not as much as Prime, but I still hate it)
