need some help

Here's what I'm doing...
I have a MSI K9MM-V MB I installed a gig of ram in cd rom and HD hooked.
Hit the power switch and Zalman heat sink come on
good thing, But it will not post. The monitor gets no input the light stays
yellow and don't go green.
So what am I over looking?
What should I check?
There is one beep when it comes on think that's ok so
what you think?
I also tried an AGP video card and still nothing

    I suggest you first try swapping VGA outputs or the DVI outputs. If that's not working, try looking in your mobo's manual to consult to the 'beep directory' and make sure if the beep isn't indicating a system error. And finally, if your mobo is new as well and you just installed it, make sure you don't have an extra mobo standoff that's shorting the circutry.

    Also, you could try this..
    One of your devices may not be liking one of it's connected compadres, so make sure you first have everything connected, and then one by one, disconnect each device and power the pc. Once you disconnect a device and you do not hear the beep, you have an idea what device might be causing the problem.

    I'm not really good at troubleshooting, so if anybody can add some input, that would be nice.

    It was the monitor I was using,
    I got the monitor off my main rig and plugged
    into the agp and it works.
    Now I have to get another monitor but all is working.
